4 Gujarat Women featured in Union Govt 'Men and Women in India 2023' Report

Four Gujarat women, including para-athlete Bahvina Patel and three entrepreneurs Babita Seli, Laxmiben Makwana, and Bhartiben Jaru, have been featured in the Union government's report "Men and Women in India 2023." The report highlights their achievements in various fields, highlighting their empowerment and resilience. The report presents gender statistics and socio-economic statuses of men and women.
Bhavina Patel, a renowned para-athlete from Mehsana, has made significant contributions to sports, particularly para-table tennis. She won a silver medal at the 2020 Summer Paralympics and reached the world no. 2 ranking at the 2011 PTT Thailand Open. She qualified for the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
Babita Seli, an entrepreneur in the Kandla Special Economic Zone (KASEZ), has not only uplifted herself but also empowered other women in her community through her successful chemicals blending and trading unit.
Laxmiben Makwana, a passionate sewing enthusiast from Kidana village, has created a thriving business through the Yusuf Meherally Centre, a vocational training centre in collaboration with UNICEF, providing financial stability for her family.
Bhartiben Jaru, an entrepreneur, has transformed her life and those around her through her embroidery skills, gaining financial stability and becoming one of the most proficient women in the district.
These women have been hailed for their exceptional achievements and contributions to society, inspiring others across the nation.
