The Indian Air Force plans to induct around 3,500 Agniveer Vayu soldiers into its contingent for the Republic Day parade, marking a significant step towards gender equality and women's empowerment.
The Agniveer scheme, introduced in September 2022, is a new HR management initiative for the Indian Armed Forces where individuals serve for four years in the Indian Armed Forces, aiming to induct women into the Air Force at Other Ranks. The scheme aims to empower and discipline young Indian youth, improve their military ethos, and enhance their battle preparedness.
After four years in the Indian Armed Forces, regular cadres must serve a minimum of 15 years, adhering to existing terms and conditions for Junior Commissioned Officers, Other Ranks, Indian Navy, Air Force, and Non-Combatant enrolled.
French President Emmauel Macron will be the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations in Delhi, marking the sixth time a French leader will be the chief guest. The Female Agniveers have been rehearsed continuously carrying their full uniform for the past few days in Delhi.
"Thank you for your invitation, my dear friend Narendra Modi, I will be in India to celebrate Republic Day with you!” President Emmauel said as he accepted the invitation as the Chief Guest.
On January 26, 2024, India will commemorate its 75th Republic Day. R-Day is observed to commemorate the historic date when the country finished transforming into an independent republic following the adoption of the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar-drafted Indian Constitution.
