1st Khelo India National Ranking Women Archery to begin in Jamshedpur

The first phase of the Khelo India National Ranking Women Archery Tournament is all set to begin in Jamshedpur on 12 April. The two day event will be held at the TATA Archery Academy in the steel city of Jharkhand.
The Sports Authority of India has approved a total of INR 75 lakh to host the tournament. To be conducted in six phases, the tournament will be held across recurve and compound events in the senior, junior and cadet categories. The World Archery Rules will be followed at the event. The tournament is being organized by Archery Association of India (AAI), in collaboration with the Jharkhand Archery Association and TATA Steel.
According to the SAI statement, the top 32 recurve and compound archers in senior, junior and cadet categories have been selected for the tournament. Their performance at the recently held National Championships was taken into account before making the final shortlist of players. The release further addedthat archers who have also met the Minimum Qualification Score (MQS) in any of the international championship/Nationals/selection trials/Khelo India tournaments/state championship/state selection trials in 2021-2022 have also made the cut.
The six women's National Ranking tournaments will be held every alternate month with the final phase scheduled for December 2022.
The totalpoints of the five phases will be calculated to finalize the ranking of the top 16 archers for the final phase in December. The top 16 players will be awarded cash awards, amounting to Rs 37.5 lakh
