The prestigious Erasmus Mundus Scholarships have been provided to 174 Indian students, including more than 50 per cent of women, for degree programs that will start in the academic year 2023-2024. This will be the largest cohort of Indian students to receive scholarships by this programme. Students who received scholarships for the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) have shared their excitement to attend European Universities at an event held in Delhi by the European Union Delegation to honor departing Indian students.
Seppo Nurmi, Charge d' Affaires EU Delegation to India and Bhutan, emphasized the need for more students when he mentioned the increase of students in the present year as compared to last year’s figures which were 161 students.
The developing of people-to-people ties between the EU and India is a crucial part of the partnership and it shows the rising interest among students in the Erasmus scholarship, Seppo further stated.
In addition to providing students with highly advanced educational opportunities and also opportunities for their professional growth, the Erasmus+ program also gives them a chance to gain rich cultural experiences and also see Europe's diversity. The Spanish ambassador to India, Jose Mara Ridao Domnguez wished all the students an enriching journey.
