"WeWomenWant" Venture Talks about Women's Empowerment Alongside Prominent Indian Fashion Designers

The Shakti Awards 2022, a project of the ITV Network and ITV Foundation called "We women want," recently ended. They honoured women from many genres for their contributions to Indian society.
The panel discussion and felicitation event for the Shakti Awards 2022 were held simultaneously. They conducted a debate about the fashion industry with a panel of women. Fashion designers Rina Dhaka, Anjul Bhandari, Kavita Bhartia, and Gurpreet Kaur Sonel made up the panel.
According to Rina Dhaka, who has helped put Indian fashion in the spotlight internationally, “The fashion business works just as hard as the entertainment sector; we don’t take breaks or holidays since our deadlines are all that matter. I entered the field when we didn’t have a designing firm because, in my father’s words, do fashion to seem lovely for a suitor.”
Anjul Bhandari, however, asserted that their profession is a safer place for women because it is exclusively female-oriented. "Since no one practises the job in the same way as I do, backstage is exclusively geared for women. There is no embroidered man. As a result, women are safer. But feel free to come in and take a look around, gentlemen," she says.
According to Kavita Bhartia, who started off as an entrepreneur stated, “Things have changed, I see a lot more women doing hard work and able to pull off their respective work. When I started in 1989, I was one of the few women who launched a business and was able to sustain it.”
The programme included stories of amazing women who not only expressed their views on what it means to be a woman, but also opened doors for other women to pursue their dreams.
