On May 17-18, a two-day e-summit to be held to focus on measures to protect the health of women, adolescents, and children during the Covid pandemic.
The virtual summit, 'Lives in the Balance,' is co-hosted by The Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH) a multi-constituency partnership hosted by World Health Organization (WHO), CORE Group, the Global Financing Facility for Women, Children, and Adolescents (GFF), and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.
The two-day e-summit will examine how well countries have included equity-enhancing policies in their national COVID-19 responses to protect the health and well-being of women, girls, and adolescents.
''More than 2000 delegates are expected to participate in the summit, bringing global policymakers, researchers, business leaders, health care providers and community representatives together to reflect on how well countries have included equity enhancing strategies to protect the health and well-being of women, children and adolescents in their national COVID-19 responses,'' the organisers said in a statement.
CORE Group's goal is to use collective action and learning to strengthen and extend community health practises for underserved communities, especially women and children. CORE Group’s membership is composed of over 180 US- and internationally-based NGOs, faith-based organizations, private sector institutions, academia and individuals, collectively working to advance community health policy and implementation.
The Partnership for Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (PMNCH) is the world's largest women's, children's, and adolescent health collaboration, with over 1,000 member organisations in 192 countries. PMNCH has worked to build and expand alliances, as well as to accelerate progress toward global health goals for women, children, and adolescents, since its inception.
