They say, lucky are those who can turn their passion into their profession. With sports and athletics as foundation, Zumina Ladiwala is a visionary entrepreneur who has transitioned her personal interest into a successful profession. Touching and transforming lives around fitness and mobility, she aims to connect the mind and body to train, inspire, and scale wellness, nationally and internationally.

As a successful aerial fitness coach and Founder of Airborne Aerial Fitness, Zamina Ladiwala has her journey rooted in bold professional pivots. Her line of career and work, including Chartered Accounting and Law, became secondary as she shifted to fitness with unwavering confidence and clarity. Her background and area of expertise involve the successful execution of a scalable health niche and the provision of premium training. Zamina stresses the importance of communication and self-reflection every day and believes in manifestation and the act of living.

Take us through the formative years of your life and key influences that sparked your interest in wellness, fitness, and holistic health?

Sports and athletics strongly shaped my early years. I actively participated in multiple disciplines that later became a foundation building resilience and strong performance mindset. Later on, the focus shifted toward academic and career-building, with influence and guidance of a family that was deeply rooted in law and finance. I was naturally guided towards a structured professional path, that led me to pursue Chartered Accountancy.

After my studies at law school, I spent many years working with my father, but all along, fitness always had a permanent place in my life. Aerial fitness has always been of great appeal to me which eventually resulted in a hobby turning out to be a full-time profession.

Introduce us to Airborne Aerial Fitness. What is the core vision behind the brand, and what primary roles and responsibilities do you oversee as its Founder?

Airborne Aerial Fitness is a specialized aerial fitness brand operating across multiple locations in Mumbai. A team of 22 trained instructor with total workforce of 26, our work spans across operations, management, and marketing. The brand was built with inclusion as its core element. Aerial fitness is accessible to all individuals, with no age, weight, or gender barriers.

Through our services, we aim to empower individuals with the confidence to participate in aerial fitness, irrespective of body type or fitness level. Our structured programs cater to all levels of complexity and diversity, provides a comprehensive ecosystem through complementary offerings such as strength training, trampoline fitness, Pilates, and mobility-focused workouts.

What major challenges have you faced while building a niche fitness concept, and how did you overcome them?

At the very beginning of my career, the key challenge was getting people to try the experience first-hand. Fortunately, many communities within Mumbai actively seek out new experiences are more willing to experiment which played a key role in building early momentum.

One of the first difficulties was in breaking down resistance to the untraditional forms of exercise. It took almost 18 months of steady education to break down their resistance. Eventually the results were positive and rapid, with the club gaining participants ranging from children age five to people over seventy years of age.

What unique training philosophies, wellness practices, or community-driven approaches differentiate Airborne Aerial Fitness in India’s wellness ecosystem?

Airborne was designed to be a team-oriented brand, not a business run by a single person. It was designed to offer a thoughtful and effective experience. As a trainer of trainers, my aim is quite straightforward yet absolutely essential: understand the client. I believe that empathy and perspective-taking are skills that a person cannot do without if they are to comprehend what their body is truly saying.

Aerial fitness has a perceived risk of harm, thus proper training and personal attention are imperative for a safe and successful outcome. In creating a nurturing atmosphere, Airborne has come to be known for quality, safety, and qualified mentorship.

Looking back, which milestones are you most proud of?

At Airborne, the key objective was to provide a performance platform where individuals of all ages could showcase their skills on a professional stage. Our annual aerial show brings that vision to life, where each production is fully directed, designed, and written by me alongside our dedicated team of choreographers. Looking ahead, 2026 will mark our third major production.

Growth is driven by commitment, persistence, and purpose

One of the most memorable milestones was executing a large-scale outdoor event in collaboration with Jio Drive. In addition to that, another highlight of 2025 was hosting an aerial competition in Bangkok, an exciting achievement that showcased our creativity on an international stage. I have proudly innovated new aerial experiences that feel fresh, engaging, and impactful, all while supporting individual fitness goals.

How do you envision the future of the wellness and fitness industry in India? Which emerging trends will shape the next phase of growth?

The wellness landscape in India is gradually shifting towards technological intervention-based treatments which help the body in its healing process with minimum bodily efforts. As a firm believer in evidence-based wellness, I see technological advancements helping people overcome the lifelong effects of today’s lifestyle-related wellness issues.

Aerial fitness has been shown to be a sustainable activity, as it has been steadily growing in popularity in India for past 10 to 15 years, along with continuing to innovate. It functions as a creative platform that can be tailored by professionals across disciplines.
