Indkal Technologies was founded in 2020 with an objective to identify high growth and scalable market segments, and the ambition to secure market share in the sector of consumer electronics and appliances through licensing of global brands for India like Acer. I am the in-house counsel, supervising the functioning of the overall setup aligned to legal strategies which are essential to accomplish the company’s objectives seamlessly.

Essentially, my role comprises keeping the leadership well-informed about the timely changes, predominantly anything concerning corporate laws, and mitigating corporate risks. All of this further helps with any new changes that might occur in the spectrum so that there’s nothing that might end up hampering the efficacy of the workflow. After completing my high-school education in a small town in Bihar, I pursued my bachelor’s degree in law at the esteemed Chanakya National Law University, Patna. I had always aspired to become a corporate lawyer but getting an experience in litigation was a significant move for me to have a better understanding of the nuances of the legal field before becoming an in-house counsel. Hence, I started my career at Lex Advoco, a boutique law firm in Delhi, out of graduation.

A role that was a stepping stone, that sculpted me into the professional that I am today. I believe joining a law firm as a fresh graduate was one of the best decisions, especially with all the guidance had received from mentors such as Saurabh Jain because that gave me an intricate understanding of how litigation works. However, my learning did not stop there as I started working under senior advocate Suhail Dutt, whose immense expertise in the field enhanced my legal, analytical, and research skills. During my tenure with Dutt, I versed myself in various complex commercial matters which helped me to better myself in drafting and interpreting contractual terms in a better way.

With the help of my extensive experience of four years in litigation, I can now identify the potential points of disputes in an agreement and try to avoid them so that the company can minimize its litigation costs. Subsequently, I joined the Vatika Group followed by a role at Jindal Stainless Steel Group, where I also got a chance to manage and address litigation matters of the company. The diverse sectoral experience has facilitated me to hone my qualities and gain expertise in matters which a Chief Legal Officer must possess. I credit reading and staying updated as the key contributors to having a strong foothold as a legal professional as the line of work demands continuous learning and research.

I am actively involved to oversee everything related to legality at Indkal Technologies. I aim to work with the sole objective of always preserving and protecting the interest of the company against any prospective litigation without causing depreciation of the integrity of the firm. Being a Chief Legal Officer enables me to deal with the legality of the issues and business realities that more likely stipulate practical solutions for modern problems.

My efforts are concentrated to work in synergy with every department and build strong relationships with the teams to develop a legal strategy to address business needs. As a legal counsel, I strive to manage corporate risk with regulatory compliances and participate in developing general management policy while striking the right balance between business needs and legal strategy. Each day brings a new challenge and new learning, and overcoming these challenges gives me a sense of achievement.
