In India’s rapidly evolving healthcare landscape, women leaders are redefining the essence of leadership—building systems that are efficient, compassionate and deeply connected to the communities they serve. Among these trailblazers is Dr Twinkal Patel, a healthcare entrepreneur whose journey seamlessly blends medical expertise with visionary management.

With over 20 years of experience in healthcare leadership, Dr Patel’s path has been shaped by both her natural aptitude for leadership and a family legacy rooted in healthcare. Driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact, she pursued a BHMS and an MBA in Healthcare Administration.

Her pursuit of excellence didn’t stop there—she went on to complete fellowships in Clinical Psychology and Life Coaching, and earned a fellowship in Business Leadership in Healthcare from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.

Today, Dr Twinkal serves as the Managing Director of Motherhood Women’s & Child Care Hospital, one of Gujarat’s leading super-specialty hospitals dedicated to women, children, and IVF care. Beyond this, she leads several other healthcare and wellness initiatives, including Midas Touch Cosmetic & Skin Care Center, Motherhood Training Centre, and the Motherhood Foundation.

In each of these roles, she shapes the vision, implements efficient systems, drives technology adoption, and fosters a culture of leadership and excellence.

But Dr Twinkal’s impact extends far beyond hospital walls. As a committed social entrepreneur, she has conducted over 1,000 seminars, youth awareness programs, mental health sessions, and health communication initiatives across India.

She is also a panelist for the CII Gujarat State Pharma & Healthcare Committee and has served as Chairperson for the YI Health Ahmedabad chapter for the past three years. In this role, she has championed the physical, mental, and social well-being of women, youth, and children, driving initiatives that leave lasting impact on communities.

Through world-class healthcare facilities, far reaching community programs, and an unwavering dedication to service, Dr Twinkal Patel exemplifies a new generation of women leaders who are shaping the future of medical care in India.

What shaped your interest in women’s healthcare needs? What led you to establish Motherhood Hospital?

After completing my academics, I was introduced to a family of gynecologists, which provided me with early exposure to women’s healthcare. Over time, this experience shaped my vision of delivering holistic, patient-centered care for women and children in metropolitan areas at an affordable cost.

A few years later, I got married into a family deeply rooted in the healthcare profession, with several gynecologists among relatives. Working closely with medical professionals revealed a critical gap, limited focus on hospital management and comprehensive patient experience.

Recognizing this need inspired me to develop strong healthcare leadership and management skills, with the goal of bridging clinical expertise with efficient and compassionate care delivery.

My personal experience during my first pregnancy was also instrumental in my journey. At the time, my husband, Dr Anand Patel, and I were practicing in a remote area. I had to travel to Ahmedabad for my own scans.

That personal experience planted the first seeds for what would eventually become Motherhood Women’s & Childcare Hospital and IVF Centre. Together, my husband and I turned that vision into reality, launching the first Motherhood Hospital in Ahmedabad on 21st October 2012.

Introduce us to Motherhood Hospital and its various areas of specialization.

We established Motherhood Women’s & Child Care Hospital as a 45-bed facility, complete with a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and advanced services including IVF, gynecology, a high-risk pregnancy unit, a fetal medicine department, and a pediatric unit.

My own childbirth experience, where the mother and baby were treated in separate hospitals, deeply influenced my vision—I was determined to create a single, comprehensive center where women and children could receive seamless holistic care under one roof.

From the very beginning, my goal has been to provide holistic, ethical, transparent, and affordable healthcare for every woman. Our care philosophy addresses the entire spectrum of a woman’s life— from puberty to menopause, ensuring that every stage is supported with the right medical expertise, compassion, and advanced technology.

Highlight some of the key technologically advanced treatments and procedures that Motherhood Hospital is known for?

At Motherhood Women’s & Child Care Hospital and Motherhood IVF Center, we combine advanced technology with holistic care to offer specialized treatments for women and children. In the field of IVF, we stay updated with the latest research and genetic studies, leveraging stem cell therapy, PRP for ovarian health, embryo quality analysis, and AI-based semen analysis.

We are also leaders in fetal medicine and gynecological surgery, housing the advanced Karl Storz Image 1S 4K 3D Rubina laparoscopy system, the first in the city and only the 15th in India, which allows us to minimize blood loss and perform precise gynecology, infertility, and gynae-oncology surgeries.

Our AI-based Voluson S18 Expert Pro sonography, also first in Gujarat, helps prevent major complications during pregnancy.

Additionally, we pioneered procedures such as Microwave Ablation, sonography-guided laparoscopic surgery, and vaginal exosome therapy to improve women’s gynecological and sexual health. Beyond high-tech treatments, we provide comprehensive care through GICU for mothers, newborn care, and holistic.
