In India’s fast-evolving healthcare landscape, women leaders are rewriting the rules of leadership, building systems that are compassionate, efficient, and deeply community-focused. Among these trailblazers stands Dr. Twinkal Patel, a healthcare entrepreneur whose journey blends medical insight with exceptional managerial vision.

With a natural inclination toward leadership and inspired by a family rooted in medicine, she pursued a BHMS degree and an MBA in Healthcare Administration in clinical psychology. She then pursued fellowships in clinical psychology, life coach certification and business leadership in healthcare from IIM Ahmedabad, one of India’s premier management institutes.

Today, Dr Twinkal serves as the Managing Director of Motherhood Women’s & Child Care Hospital, one of Gujarat’s leading super-specialty centres, and heads multiple healthcare and cosmetic institutions, including Midas Touch Cosmetic & Skin Care Center and the Motherhood Foundation.

As a social entrepreneur, she has championed 1,000+ seminars, youth awareness programs, mental health sessions, and health communication initiatives across the state.

Through world-class facilities, community programs, and a relentless commitment to service, Dr Twinkal represents a new era of women leaders shaping the future of medical care in India.

Tell us about your professional journey. What inspired you to establish Motherhood Women’s & Childcare Hospital?

After college, I got married. My family had several gynecologists, which increased my proximity to healthcare setups. I then noticed that there was a lack of focus on hospital management and addressing needs of women's and children's healthcare. That gap inspired me to develop and polish my own skills.

During my first pregnancy, my husband and I were practicing in a remote area, 120 km from Ahmedabad. Even with a well-equipped 35-bed women’s hospital, we lacked essential services like fetal medicine, high-risk pregnancy care, NICU, and advanced diagnostics. I had to travel to Ahmedabad for my own scans, and that experience planted the first seeds of Motherhood Women’s & Childcare Hospital.

I envisioned a 360-degree women’s healthcare centre at an affordable cost. Together, my husband and I turned that dream into reality and launched the first Motherhood Hospital in Ahmedabad.

Women thrive when we choose wisely, lean on support, and lead with clarity. Focus on your strengths, stay out of the chaos, and design the life you want

Introduce us to Motherhood Women’s & Child Care Hospital and Motherhood IVF Center. What key responsibilities do you shoulder?

We started Motherhood Women’s & Child Care Hospital in 2012 as a 25-bedded hospital with advanced services for IVF, gynaecology, high-risk pregnancy unit, fetal medicine department and a paediatric unit. My own childbirth experience, where the mother and baby were treated in separate hospitals, made me determined to create a complete women-and-child setup under one roof. I wanted to provide holistic, ethical, transparent, affordable care for every woman, addressing all needs from puberty to menopause,

Early on I introduced nutrition, lactation, psychology, yoga, meditation and counselling services, because I believe most of women’s concerns can be solved with proper guidance and holistic support.

As Managing Director, I shaped the vision, systems, training, technology adoption, and leadership culture. Today, with advanced infertility, fetal medicine, advanced 4K 3D Rubina laparoscopic systems, AI-based sonography, genetics, an ICU for mothers, newborn care, and holistic wellness, we have grown into a comprehensive, technology-led, compassionate women’s and childcare institution.

What challenges do you face while ensuring high-quality patient care? How do you navigate through these challenges?

Every day brings new challenges. We recently received the Best Patient Experience Award for the entire Western region, but even with achievements like this, communication remains the biggest challenge, especially with the growing generation gap between millennials and Gen Z.

Aligning employee aspirations with organizational goals becomes a challenge. Many want quick growth without staying in the process.

Therefore, manpower and alignment have become my key focus areas. I have created detailed SOPs and training schedules for every hierarchy, and I personally train senior doctors, key staff, and HODs for 3-6 months. This helps instil values, discipline, and the mindset required to truly serve patients.

Which key milestones are you most proud of? What is your “success mantra”?

My journey with Motherhood began in 2012. Since then, we have grown steadily: our second unit launched just before COVID in Vadaj, followed by centers in Rajkot, Gandhinagar, and Himmatnagar, with a new unit coming in Palanpur in 2026. We were the first in Ahmedabad to offer two advanced IVF labs in one city, and the first to launch the capital’s dedicated IVF center.

As a leader, I diversified with Midas Touch Cosmetic Surgery & Skincare to support women facing postpartum fitness and appearance concerns. We also launched the Motherhood Training Center, a FOGSI-recognised centre for excellence where our focus is on training doctors. So far, we have trained over 100 MS MD gynecologists globally in advanced infertility, advanced laparoscopy and advanced sonography course training to enhance their knowledge and skills.

My success mantra is simple: before anything else, you must learn to be a good manager. Manage people, manage situations, communicate clearly, listen deeply, and always serve with purpose. Be a good communicator and listener. Always serve with purpose and lead with clarity commitment & consistency

Highlight you work as a social entrepreneur. How do you see women’s and children's healthcare evolving in India?

As a social entrepreneur, I have always been deeply connected with community work. Before starting my own NGOs, I served with many government and non-government bodies as a trainer and advisor to NCB, NSS, GCCI, Young Indians, universities, Indian Air Force, and women’s groups. Over the past decade, I have focused on mental health, holistic wellness, and drug awareness among teenagers and youth.

I have personally conducted over 1,000 sessions across Gujarat. I am also a CII Gujarat state pharma & healthcare panellist. For the past three years I have also been serving as the Chairperson for YI Health Ahmedabad chapter.

Working closely with women and children, I realized there’s a huge gap between information and actual knowledge. With social media, people know too much, yet understand very little, which creates confusion, anxiety, and unrealistic expectations about healthcare.

The future of women’s health depends on using technology, AI, robotics, and digital records wisely. Women must rely on trusted medical guidance, not unverified online content, because their health shapes the next generation.
