Women cardiologists in India are increasingly making their mark in a traditionally male-dominated field. They are not only advancing in interventional and preventive cardiology but are also integrating holistic approaches to patient care, reflecting a growing awareness of the mind-body connection in health. These trailblazing women are redefining the boundaries of cardiology, blending medical expertise with alternative healing practices to provide comprehensive care. Among these inspiring figures is Dr. Shilpi Mohan, the owner of Ashvattha Cardiac Care.

A dedicated preventive cardiologist and holistic healer, Dr. Mohan embodies resilience and versatility. Hailing from a middle-class family, she pursued her dream of becoming a cardiologist, even marrying a serving army officer against the odds. Despite the challenges of frequent relocations due to her husband's service, she has maintained her connection to the medical profession, continuously upgrading her skills to provide holistic healing to her patients.

Dr. Mohan’s experience spans the remotest areas of Jammu and Kashmir to the premier cardiac centers in Delhi NCR and Hyderabad. For her, the impact on each patient’s life transcends numbers; every individual who seeks her help brings hope, and she sees herself as a healer with the potential to make a significant difference.

Though her passion has always been preventive cardiology, she initially explored interventional cardiology, even securing a fellowship at Narayana Hrudayalaya in Bengaluru. However, she soon realized her true calling lay in preventive care and holistic healing, choosing to pursue her vision of opening a preventive cardiology center. Dr. Mohan emphasizes that every dream, regardless of its perceived size, deserves to be nurtured and manifested.

Her expertise goes beyond traditional cardiology; she integrates tarot guidance, chakra healing, yoga, and counseling into her practice. By addressing the medical issues and the deeper emotional and psychological aspects of her patients, Dr. Mohan offers a truly holistic approach to cardiac care, empowering individuals on their journey to health and wellness. Let’s dive into this one on one interaction to know more.

Many people are skeptical about the integration of science, spirituality, and occult practices in providing holistic treatment

What inspired you to create Ashvattha Cardiac Care? Could you share the core idea behind this venture and its emphasis on holistic healing?

As a cardiologist, holistic healer, clairvoyant, and influencer, I firmly believe that our healthcare system should prioritize prevention over treatment. With this vision in mind, I founded Ashvattha Cardiac Care in Secunderabad, Telangana, and I aspire to expand it in the coming years.

Ashvattha Cardiac Centre offers a non-invasive cardiac setup that encompasses a range of services, including yoga guidance, chakra assessments, tarot readings, crystal healing, and psychic healing—all under one roof. It serves as a comprehensive resource for individuals facing various challenges in their lives, not just healthrelated issues, but those that affect their mental and emotional well-being as well. My patients are part of my extended Ashvattha family, many of whom have been with me for decades.

You advocate for a holistic approach to health that extends beyond modern medicine. Can you share the various holistic practices you specialize in?

As a cardiologist, yoga trainer, psychic healer, tarot card reader, and chakra and crystal healer, I see myself as more than just a doctor or physician. I am passionate about connecting with people. As I progressed beyond the traditional labels and roles associated with my profession, I discovered that the broader impact I could have on healing and transforming the lives of others is the driving force behind my work.

In your view, what are some of the most significant challenges you face as a leader in healthcare? What strategies do you employ to overcome these obstacles?

I have always dreamed of establishing a holistic healing center focused on preventive care, shifting the emphasis from illness to wellness. Initially, I sought venture capitalists to support this vision, but due to its perceived lack of profitability, I received little encouragement. Eventually, I decided to start small on my own and grow from there.

Many people are skeptical about the integration of science, spirituality, and occult practices in providing holistic treatment. However, since we are composed of body, mind, and soul, it's essential to address all three aspects to achieve complete wellness. My unique selling proposition is that I offer modern medicine, ancient healing techniques, and spiritual healing all under one roof. I strive to be the go-to person for medical, relationship, or psychosomatic issues, as well as for guidance in navigating future uncertainties.

Can you share some of the most significant professional milestones you've achieved during your career? What has been your mantra for success over the years?

I strongly believe that disease arises from a mental and physical imbalance or disharmony. We can't simply treat the symptoms of a disease without addressing the root causes, whether that be unhappiness or other issues affecting one's psyche. My goal is to offer my patients a combination of physical, spiritual, and psychic healing all in one place.

For me, my work is not just a business; it’s a passion that propels me forward. My primary purpose is to bring about a positive change in the lives of everyone I encounter, in whatever way I can. I see myself as a healer and a conduit between the Ultimate Healer and those seeking healing. I am merely a medium through which His wishes can be manifested into reality.

What steps do you take as a healthcare leader to stay aligned with evolving industry trends and requirements?

As a healthcare leader, I believe that a healthy mind and body play crucial roles in enhancing a nation's economy. Wellness has the potential to position India as a global superpower in the coming years. To stay aligned with evolving industry trends and requirements, I continually educate myself about advancements in healthcare, both in modern medicine and holistic practices. I also engage with other professionals in the field to share insights and best practices.

My aim is to encourage a cultural shift among Indians from an individualistic mindset to a collective one, focusing on “I to We” and transforming the approach from “Illness to Wellness.” By promoting this vision, I strive to contribute to the broader movement toward holistic health and well-being, fostering a healthier society that can thrive economically and socially. Each small step can lead to significant change in how we perceive and pursue health.

Advice for aspiring women entrepreneurs and business leaders: Life is too short for regrets. Embrace change and break free from traditional roles. I believe in following an unconventional path, and that is my guiding principle. Keep pushing forward, stay true to yourself, and don’t be afraid to forge your own way. Embrace your uniqueness and let it shine in everything you do. Remember, every step you take can lead to new opportunities and personal growth. Embrace the journey and trust in your ability to create your own success.
