The Indian healthcare sector is one of the strongest contributors to India’s economy. Contributing to India’s revenue generation and employment, the healthcare industry in India has been growing at an unprecedented speed.

Data suggests that in 2016, the Indian healthcare industry was valued at $86 billion. Expected to grow at a CAGR of 22 percent, the healthcare sector will be worth a whopping $638 billion by 2025.

Needless to say, healthcare is a critical segment that helps support the Indian population by providing access to medical services. Women form the very backbone of the Indian healthcare system. From rendering basic healthcare at the country’s grassroot level to bearing the weight of healthcare institutions as nursing staff, women do it all.

However, women continue to be underrepresented in leadership roles within the healthcare industry. Although a record number of women are pursuing healthcare degrees, yet the same numbers are not observed in the workforce. Women also leave the healthcare workforce as they climb up the ladder.

The need of the hour is to build supportive systems that support women in healthcare to build long-lasting and fruitful careers. Role-models also play a crucial part in supporting women’s dreams. Led by this mandate, the Women Entrepreneurs Review team presents the special edition featuring women healthcare leaders from Hyderabad.
