By: Rachita Sharma, Managing Editor | Monday, 19 August 2024
Healthcare is one of the most important sectors for any community and is a critical marker for development of a nation. The global pandemic opened our eyes to the criticality of having a robust healthcare sector. Covid-19 era taught us that if the healthcare system is not strong enough, it can cause widespread devastation which could also lead to economic instability.
India took a leaf from the pandemic book and strengthened its healthcare system. Although a lot remains to be done, yet we are on the path to building robust, high-quality, affordable and accessible healthcare services for every corner of the nation.
Women have always played a crucial role in the healthcare sector. Be it playing the role of primary care-givers to the elderly & infants or taking charge of medical institutions, woman have been doing it all. A majority of India’s nursing population which is said to be the backbone of the healthcare setup are also women. Indian women are also the leading demographic when it comes to pursuing medical degrees. Women’s importance in the healthcare sector can hardly be overstated.
The current edition of Women Entrepreneurs Review magazine shines the spotlight on some of India’s host prolific women leaders at the helm of hospitals. These women are leveraging their deep experience, combining it with masterful management and an empathetic approach to providing healthcare solutions.
Gracing the magazine’s cover page is Dr Mugdha M Raut, a Partner at Dr Raut's Centre for Reproductive Immunology and Dr Raut's ICPRM, as well as the Managing Director of Dr Raut’s Women’s Hospital. She also serves as a Trustee of the Dr Raut's Immunotherapy Foundation. With her extensive expertise in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr Raut has pioneered reproductive immunology in India. Driven by a passion for healthcare, she leads initiatives that provide specialized care and hope to couples facing fertility challenges.
We also bring to readers the inspirational story of Dr. Shaimaa Soherwardi, CEO, Integro Hospitals. Dr. Shaimaa has a background in dentistry and advanced degrees in Biotechnology and Oral Pathology. Currently pursuing Hospital Management at ISB, she has refined her skills through exclusive programs at IIM-B sponsored by Goldman Sachs, where she won honors for her entrepreneurial aptitude and business growth strategies.
