Inspiration For One & All

To be fair, we need to accept the fact that India still needs to buckle up to equate the gender gap in the IT sector. Despite having higher percentage of women in IT sector compared to the western countries, their struggle is far from the finishing line. Sexism, pay gap, delayed promotion and even lesser opportunities to travel overseas for onsite job, there is more to the dilemma. However, women are known for their patience and perseverance and hence many have made to the board of some prestigious IT firms, while some chose to be their own boss and started their own business.
While it is good that we are breaking the stereotype globally and moving towards being an example, we still have a long way to go. As Sangeeta Gupta, Senior VP & CSO, NASSCOM said in a statement “It has become conventional wisdom that firms that prioritize gender parity outperform others. It is our collective responsibility to develop women’s career to executive roles for the better of the industry at large”. Though she made the statement two years ago, it still stands strong and need immediate attention.
Women have slowly ascended to leadership positions in the male dominated IT sector, however each of them who reach there is usually alone once she gets there. These leaders are vested with more invisible responsibilities than one can imagine, inspiring other women and keep proving herself even when at top are two of the eminent reasons. Our current edition of Women Entrepreneur Magazine brings to you the story of ‘Top 10 Women Entrepreneurs in IT Sector - 2020’ whose story will inspire you and many others to venture into the sector and create a more engaging environment.
