Anna University: Bridging the Academia & Industry Gap
By: Rachita Sharma, Managing Editor | Wednesday, 5 June 2024
Established in 1978, Anna University was named after Late Dr. C. N. Annadurai, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The legacy educational institution offers higher education in Engineering, Technology, Architecture and Applied Sciences relevant to the current and projected needs of the society. Not only does it promote research and dissemination of knowledge gained therefrom, but it also aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry.
The educational institution’s vision is to become a world class institution by shaping professionals that possess high technical knowledge, professional skills and ethical values, and act as a preferred partner to the industry and community for their economic and social development through excellence in teaching, research and consultancy.
In order to celebrate the legacy created by Anna University, the current edition of Women Entrepreneurs Review magazine shines the spotlight on alumni women leaders from the reputed institution.
In this edition read about Stephin Robinson, the Co-Founder of AppExert, an entrepreneur who decided to create opportunities for others. Today, through AppExert, she is revolutionizing remote work for both men and women who are juggling multiple roles or simply yearning to be with their families. She is also an advocate for empowerment of women.
We also introduce readers to Sathya Ponravi. She holds a Master's in Engineering – Computer Science from R M K Engineering College affiliated with Anna University, graduating in the 2016 batch. Currently, she is pursuing Research paper in “Web 3.0 developer with expertise in Blockchain, ML, and AI” at IIM, Kozhikode. A media professional she embarked on her entrepreneurial journey with her partner Ponravi by creating children's animated learning series on DVDs.
These women are shining exemplars of women’s capability of building successful businesses in varied fields. They only require the support and backing of institutions such as Anna University to help them realize and hone their own abilities.
