The Real-Time Billionaires rankings, released by Forbes, is a wealth-tracking platform that offers regular updates on the ranking and net worth of every person that Forbes has verified as a billionaire. The platform offers a list of the top billionaires, organized by net worth, and follows the daily gains and losses of the wealthiest individuals.
The platform recently released the list of richest people in the world for the year 2023. In a surprising turn of events, more than half the people on the list saw a drastic drop in their net worth as compared to 2022. For the very first time, a French national, Bernard Arnault, (head of LVMH) made it to the top of the list, while eccentric billionaire Elon Musk was dethroned. The US had the highest number of billionaires followed by China.
Indians found themselves prominently represented on the list and contributed to the third-highest number of billionaires. A total of 169 billionaires from India made it to the list showcasing a collective met-worth of $675 billion.
Several Indian women were featured on the list as well, signifying the country’s strides towards empowering its womenfolk. From self-made billionaires like Falguni Nayar to heiresses such as Savitri Jindal, a host of women made it to the list. These women are collectively redefining success, expanding industries, shattering glass ceilings, and making significant contributions to the country's development.
The rise of these Indian women billionaires is a testament to the changing role of women in traditionally male-dominated fields and an inspiration to the worldwide narrative on gender equality and women's empowerment. In addition to their financial intelligence, these women are actively influencing philanthropy, healthcare, and education.
