The renewable energy industry is fast-growing. It not only provides business opportunities but also helps to control climate change. Striving to bring some change into society and with the belief in giving back to society, Vanshika Khandelwal established Delsin Power which provides solar energy solutions to the customers. A graduate from Delhi University who was completely new to this field and had no experience in the Renewable energy industry, she put great efforts into understanding the industry before starting Delsin Power.

In a recent interaction with Women Entrepreneur, Vanshika Khandelwal shares more about herself and her journey into this place. Here are the briefs from the interview.

Tell Us About Delsin Power In Brief And What Are Some Important Attributes Of Your Expertise That You Want Us To Bring Out Through The Article?

Delsin Power is a solar energy solution provider company that is striving to comply with its business with international standards of quality, reliability, and performance. It has the potential to become the harbinger of clean energy in the current renewable energy sector.

I come from a conventional business background which instilled a certain amount of risk appetite in me. I believe that occupational segregation that makes some businesses male-dominated is a thing of the past. This company is my way to prove that everything is achievable.

At Delsin, we are a family. We strive to create a positive workplace where ideas are appreciated and everyone takes part in the decision-making process. I have been blessed with a proactive team that leaves no stone unturned when it comes to accomplishing a task.

Highlight On Your Education Journey And Industry Experience. What Motivated You To Foray Into The Renewable Energy Sector? Also, Tell Us About The Underlying Idea Behind Establishing The Firm?

My graduation in Economic Honours helped me understand the dynamics of the market but my knowledge about the renewable energy field was limited. The first time I saw a solar panel was in a mini solar-powered light and it was enough to create curiosity about learning every nitty-gritty of this industry. During the lockdown, I read over 20 books about solar power, panels, DIY, etc. to understand the gravity of the industry. I was struggling with the technical terminologies but the goal to make my name for myself and make my father proud drove me through all the challenges. I started the company with zero experience in the renewable energy industry and went ahead by keeping the words of my father in my mind, that nobody teaches you better than the market itself. I think my knowledge in this field has been augmented by this raw approach to embracing a competitive market without prior experience.

The idea of solar energy fascinated me from a very young age and the kind of opportunity this sector provides is huge, I think I can make gains both for society and myself here. I aspire to be this force of disruption in the field and establish myself as a thought leader.

Tell Us About The Roles And Responsibilities You Shoulder Including The Challenges You Face As A Founder And How Do You Overcome Those Challenges?

Delsin Power is a start-up and I handle most of the aspects of the business along with my enthusiastic team. Currently, I devote some amount of time to every aspect of the business and try to make the best out of it. The CEO aspect is just on the name card but in reality, I am a team leader for the purchasing team, operation team, and maintenance team, and I also have to handle planning, marketing, and, accounting daily.

What Has Been Your Most Remarkable Achievement So Far And What Is The Driving Force Behind Your Success As A Business Leader?

I have been working since my college days and having an office with my name on it is what I have dreamt of since a very young age. Starting something on my own is a remarkable achievement for me. I also recently completed my first project of tagging my company’s name on the panel which not only made me proud but also very grateful. My support system such as my parents, my fiancé, and my dream of making my father proud was the driving force behind my success and I want to give my kids what my parents gave me, exposure and a chance to follow my passion.

How Do You Deal With The Periodic Evolution That Occurs In This Industry? What Advice You Would Like To Give Young Women And Girls Who Are Aspiring To Become Business Leaders Someday?

Reading solar installation manuals, and solar magazines, and interacting with people within the industry played a major role in increasing my understanding of the renewable energy industry. I also visit solar convocations and exhibitions to keep myself updated with the recent happening in the industry.

"Become your own pillar of strength and everything else would stop mattering"

I believe it is important to dream and just believe in yourself. Keep doing your best and fight for your dream to make it true. Women in my opinion are better managers and therefore creating a good team is all it takes. I advise everyone to take a bit of work experience before venturing into their own business because it will help them make decisions for their long-run plan.
