As per MakeMyTrip, only 15.8 percent of business travelers were females in 2024 with female being one out of every six business fliers. The statistics, which came from MakeMyTrip's business booking tool, myBiz, were for flight bookings of almost 3,000 firms, all employing more than 200 people and spending more than Rs 1 crore each year on travel.
The education industry also had the most percentage of woman corporate travelers last year at 28 percent, followed by the media and entertainment industry at 25 percent and consulting industry at 22 percent.
The press release states that the press release continues, "The sector-wise distribution of corporate travelers shows an interesting trend in the representation of women among corporate fliers. In 2024, education stood at 28 percent women, followed by media and entertainment at 25 percent, and consulting at 22 percent." Contrastingly, sectors like manufacturing, chemicals, electronics, energy, textiles, and pharmaceuticals recorded far lower percentages of women business travelers at around 10 percent.
Bengaluru (17 percent), Delhi (18 percent), and Mumbai (almost 19 percent) topped the list in terms of the percentage of women corporate travelers in metro cities. Other metros such as Chennai and Pune registered 11 percent, Hyderabad at 13 percent, and Kolkata and Ahmedabad at 12 percent.
The most traveled business routes among women were between Delhi and Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi, and Mumbai and Bengaluru. "Through our real-time information and travel solution integration, we help companies make smart decisions with their workforce travel requirements and company policies," explained Raj Rishi Singh, CMO and CBO-Corporate at MakeMyTrip.
In January, MakeMyTrip introduced an international flight "Part Payment Option," where the user can book his or her flight by making an advance payment of only 10 percent to 40 percent of the ticket amount. The balance amount must be paid in full 45 days before departure or departure date, whichever is earlier, without any fee. The advance payment percentage varies depending on the airline, travel industry, and booking calendar.
This facility is meant to provide relief from the cost, especially for large families and groups of people who might find it difficult to make full advance payments. Subject to fare rules, customers who choose payment through installments can change their confirmed bookings after making the full payment. Families, couples, and persons booking costly overseas flights are now making greater use of this payment facility.
