WETA Launches India Chapter in Hyderabad

A Women Empowerment Conference held in Hyderabad marked the official launch of the India chapter of the Women Empowerment Telugu Association (WETA), bringing together policymakers, and entrepreneurs, students, and women professionals to discuss opportunities for women’s social and economic advancement.

The event was held on Wednesday at the Jubilee Hills Convention Centre and covered the themes: Women empowerment, Job opportunities, Entrepreneurship and the overall contribution of rural women towards development in the wider world. The program attracted a significant number of participants, including young professionals and students, indicating an increasing interest in programs which aim to expand the participation of women in various fields.

The conference was organized by Hanumandla Jhansi Reddy, founder of WETA, who has been keenly working to spread the outreach of WETA from the United States to India. The announcement of the launch of the India chapter in Telangana marks an important milestone in strengthening the interaction at the grassroots level and establishing formal opportunities for women's development.

Labor Minister G. Vivek Venkatswamy, as the chief guest, emphasized on the need to give equal opportunities and institutional support to women to be successful. He said that women can do extraordinary things if they are provided with the right environment and encouragement. He also recognized that organizations such as WETA are helping to promote the economic, social and political empowerment of women.

The Minister applauded the life journey of the founder of WETA, Hanumandla Jhansi Reddy, who she said had made a successful journey from being a homemaker to an entrepreneur and a global organizational leader. He noted that her work in establishing WETA in the USA and in expanding it to India is evidence of good leadership and dedication to women’s empowerment.

Other distinguished leaders at the event were Seethakka, Ponnam Prabhakar, Adluri Laxman and other dignitaries who showed their support to empowering women in urban and rural areas.

Women are actively participating in various spheres including education, job, entrepreneurship, administration, and politics which were highlighted by the speakers at the conference. They pointed out that women's role needs to be mobilized at all levels of society to achieve inclusive development.

The Minister also spoke about the need for support and encouragement from the family to help women achieve their goals. Based on his personal experience, he noted that women in many families are now doing very well in education, business and professions, and that the encouragement of family members is an important factor in their success. He also appealed to society to respect women's time, efforts and aspirations particularly of those who balance their professional duties with family responsibilities.

During the conference, the importance of increased participation of women in decision-making positions, especially political and administrative, was also pointed out. Empowerment of women at grassroots level will make a significant contribution to the balanced and sustainable development, speakers said.

The event ended with the Minister expressing her belief that the campaigns launched by WETA India Telangana Chapter would make a difference for women, young girls and students. He congratulated Hanumandla Jhansi Reddy and the organization on their plans to further promote women's empowerment in India in the future.
