RESPONSIBLE NETISM & CYBERPEACE FOUNDATION LAUNCHES "INDIA FIGHTS CYBER VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN" CAMPAIGN
By: WE Staff | Saturday, 13 November 2021
Today, cyber is the new weapon! Individuals' cyber rights, particularly those of children and women, have been violated as a result of cyber violence in cyberspace. Online harassment and violence have been neglected in favour of offline or physical violence.
With the mission of "Making India Cyber Safe for Children and Women," Responsible Netism, a social purpose organisation, will host its 6th Annual National Conference on CyberPsychology on Saturday, January 22, 2022, in collaboration with CyberPeace Foundation, an award-winning Cyber Security think tank that has been working to bring CyberPeace to CyberSpace for more than two decades.
The campaign #IndiaFightsCyberViolence was started on November 11, 2021 in the ICCR Auditorium in Delhi by Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, President ICCR, Member of Parliament, Priyank Kanoongo, Chairperson, NCPCR, and Rekha Sharma, Chairperson NCW. Members of the CyberPeace Foundation team also attended the meeting.
Vinay Sahasrabuddhe has been a powerful advocate for children's online safety, sharing his visionary words and emphasising the three R's: Research, Reform, and Reshape. He suggested that a comprehensive study be conducted in order to effectively voice concerns and propose cures based on evidence-based research, which would aid us in reforming intervention tactics and reshaping the existing framework to best serve the requirements of women and children in cyberspace.
NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma stressed the importance of raising awareness about women's online safety rights and emphasised the importance of reaching out to the last mile in order to establish collective action and effect change. She also underlined the importance of nationwide training for police officers on how to deal with and report online distress.
The Responsible Netism 6th National Cyber Psychology Conference, slated for January 22, 2022, will be the culmination of the campaign's study and activity.
Sujay Patki - Social Activist and Advisor Responsible Netism, Shilpa Chandolikar, trustee Responsible Netism, Adv Khushbu Jain Advocate Supreme Court of India, and Unmesh Joshi - Co-founder Responsible Netism attended the launch.
