Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Prayagraj on Tuesday to take part in a function honouring women's empowerment.

The event is open to women who are enrolled in one of the government's nine assistance programmes. Group sakhis, bank sakhis, women operating community toilets, BC sakhis, agricultural livelihood sakhis, electricity sakhis, women operating take-home ration plants, Kanya Sumangala scheme beneficiaries, and women of self-help groups (SHG) set up in villages across the state are among those affected.

These women empowerment projects will be launched remotely by the Prime Minister, and money will be paid to the beneficiaries' bank accounts. The programmes that will be launched include the transfer of cash worth Rs 1000 crore to the accounts of one lakh SHGs, the laying of foundation stones for 202 take-home ration units across the state, and the distribution of Mukhya Mantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana benefits to 1,01,000 people.

The speech of the Prime Minister and the engagement with the audience will be the two main components of the programme. At the Parade Ground, a room has been set up for PM's engagement with 32 women who are skilled in various fields. During a visit to an exhibition of selected images highlighting the contribution of SHG women, the Prime Minister may have a conversation with these women.

The programme is being held in accordance with Modi's vision of empowering women, particularly at the grassroots level, by providing them with necessary skills, incentives, and resources, according to a statement from the PMO, which also stated that he will transfer a sum of Rs 1000 crore to the bank accounts of Self Help Groups (SHGs).

The Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM) is facilitating this transfer, with 80,000 SHGs receiving a Community Investment Fund (CIF) of Rs. 1.10 lakh per SHG and 60,000 SHGs receiving a revolving fund of Rs. 15,000 per SHG.

The prime minister will also send an amount of $4000 as a first month's stipend to the accounts of 20,000 business correspondent-Sakhis (BC-Sakhis) to encourage them. The PMO added that when BC-Sakhis start working as doorstep financial service providers at the grassroot level, they are granted a stipend of 4,000 for six months to help them settle in and subsequently start earning through transaction commissions.

Modi would also distribute a total of Rs. 20 crore to over 1 lakh beneficiaries under the 'Mukhya Mantri Kanya Sumangala Scheme' during the programme. The programme gives a girl kid with conditional cash transfers at various periods of her life. Each beneficiary will receive $15,000 in total. In addition, he will set the groundwork for 202 additional nutrition production facilities. These units are being funded by the self-help groups and will be constructed at the cost of approx ₹1 crore for one unit.
