Following her recent victory at the W60 ITF event in Saguenay, Canada, Karman Kaur Thandi is now ranked as India's top women's singles tennis player. She has taken Ankita Raina's place.

According to Olympics.com, this triumph, Karman's largest singles title win to date, has moved her up 91 spots to the 217th spot in the most recent Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings. Olympian Ankita is currently ranked 297th after falling 13 spots.

The top five women's singles players in India are Sahaja Yamalapalli, who rose 20 ranks to world number 508, Riya Bhatia, who dropped five spaces to 490, and Rutuja Bhosale, who dropped nine spots to 411.

Karman achieved a 196 rating in 2018, which was a career high. Karman's victory in Saguenay is his second this year and third singles victory overall. She had triumphed in a W25 competition back in June in Gurugram. In 2018, Karman won her first singles championship in Hong Kong.

Karman Kaur overcame a set deficit to defeat Katherine Sebov of Canada in the championship match and win by scores of 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Earlier in the competition, Karman had pulled off an upset by upsetting the second-seeded American Robin Anderson in the first round and the Japanese Ena Shibahara, a member of the mixed doubles champions from the 2022 French Open.

The Indian, who was ranked below the top 400 back in February, has had a fantastic year in 2022. Karman received praise for her outstanding performance against former Wimbledon finalist Eugenie Bouchard in the second round of the WTA Chennai Open 2022 last month after shocking France's Chloe Paquet, then ranked 109 in the world, in the opening round.
