US startup iSono Health has raised Czech JSK Investments Group funding for its ATUSA system, the world's first portable, and wearable, automated 3D breast ultrasound system.
Founded by Neda Razavi and Shadi Saberi and based in South San Francisco, iSono Health is a Y Combinator alumnus.
The FDA-cleared ATUSA system can be used in hospitals, radiology facilities, clinics, and even homes, allowing doctors to review images remotely.
The device combines computer-aided image capture with analysis and can perform examinations in a time of approximately two minutes, allowing faster detection and diagnosis of lesions.
The JSK Investments funding round was led by entrepreneur Simona Kijonkova's foundation, which makes investments in socially responsible projects that have significant international market appeal.
The investment will be used to further develop the ATUSA system, expand clinical validation with NIH-funded research, and develop the technology to make preventive breast exams more convenient and efficient.
CEO Neda described the partnership as a powerful collaboration between two women-founded businesses with a purpose of making more access to advanced breast screening technology available.
