JKRLM concludes Saras Mela 3.0 Promoting Rural Women Artisans

The Saras Aajeevika Kashmir Mela, organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM), showcased the talents of over 200 rural women from 16 Indian states. The event showcased handmade products and regional cuisines, promoting women's empowerment and cultural exchange, and aimed to elevate artisans and entrepreneurs. The Saras Mela 3.0 was held at Zabarwan Park, Srinagar from August 3 to August 12, 2024.
The 3.0 edition of the Saras Aajeevika Mela brought together women from different states, fostering cultural exchange and financial independence. It is a platform for women Self Help Groups in rural India to showcase their skills and creativity. It celebrates handloom and handicrafts, and regional cuisines, and exemplifies livelihoods and empowerment. The event promotes unity, shared identity, and recognition of women's crafts.
Reyaz Beigh, Additional Mission Director of JKRLM Kashmir Division remarks, "The Saras Aajeevika Mela is not just a fair; it's a crucial platform that empowers women artisans, promotes their craftsmanship, and offers them opportunities to thrive in a competitive marketplace. This Mela plays a vital role in boosting the confidence and economic independence of rural women, contributing to the holistic development of the region."
The Additional Mission Director further thanked Dr. Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary, Commissioner Secretary Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, and Indu Kanwal Chib, Mission Director of JKRLM for their support in making the event a huge success, and all associated departments for their contributions.
The event attended by dignitaries and participants, celebrated rural women's skills and creativity, emphasizing their empowerment for sustainable livelihoods and cultural unity. It promotes women-led businesses and preserves traditional arts and crafts, advancing women's empowerment.
