  • Jemimah Rodrigues promoted from Grade B to Grade A in BCCI contracts
  • BCCI expands women’s central contracts list from 16 to 21 players
  • Seven players, including Pratika Rawal and Kashvee Gautam, earn maiden contracts

Jemimah Rodrigues has been promoted to Grade A in the BCCI women's central contracts for the 2025-26 season, rewarding her defining role in India's historic Women’s World Cup triumph. Elevated from Grade B, Jemi now joins senior stalwarts Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, and Deepti Sharma in the top bracket, which carries an annual remuneration of Rs 50 lakh.

Her promotion caps a remarkable World Cup campaign marked by resilience and big-match temperament. Rodrigues endured a difficult start to the tournament, registering two ducks and facing a brief omission from the playing XI. However, she staged a strong comeback with a crucial half-century against New Zealand before delivering her career-defining performance, a match-winning 127 against Australia in the semi-final at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai. The knock played a pivotal role in India securing their maiden Women’s World Cup title.

The BCCI has expanded its women’s central contract list from 16 players last season to 21 this year, reflecting a growing talent pool. Harleen Deol has returned to the contracts after missing out last season, while Pratika Rawal, Kranti Gaud, Sree Charani, Kashvee Gautam, G Kamalini, Vaishnavi Sharma, and Tejal Hasabnis have earned maiden contracts. Several of them featured in India’s World Cup squad or impressed at the U19 level.

All-rounder Sneh Rana has been promoted from Grade C to Grade B, while notable omissions include Shreyanka Patil, Titas Sadhu, and Pooja Vastrakar.

The Indian women’s team is currently touring Australia, with the multi-format series set to begin with a three-match T20I series from February 15 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
