INR 25,172 crore Budgeted for Women and Child Development Ministry

In 2022-23, the budget allocated to the Ministry of Women and Child Development was 25,172.28 crore, up 3% over the previous year's allocation of 24,435 crore.
Recognizing the importance of 'Nari Shakti' as the harbinger of India's bright future and for women-led development during the 'Amrit Kaal,' Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in presenting the Budget for 2022-23 that the government has comprehensively revamped the schemes of the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
As a result, Mission Shakti, Mission Vatsalya, Saksham Anganwadi, and Poshan 2.0 were recently launched to provide women and children with integrated advantages.
Saksham Anganwadi and POSHAN 2.0 (Umbrella ICDS - Anganwadi Services, Poshan Abhiyan, Scheme for Adolescent Girls) received a budget of 20,263 crore, a modest increase from the previous year's allocation of 20,105 crore.
Mission Shakti (Mission for Women's Protection and Empowerment) received a budget of 3,184 crore in 2022-23, up from 3,109 crore in 2021-22.
The budget given to Mission VATSALYA (Child Protection Services and Child Welfare Services) was 1,472 crore, up from 900 crore in 2021-22.
The funding for autonomous bodies was reduced from 188 crore in 2021-22 to 152 crore in 2022-23. The Central Adoption Resource Agency (CARA), the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), and the National Commission for Women are among the autonomous bodies.
In her budget speech, the Finance Minister also announced that the Saksham Anganwadis scheme will upgrade two lakh anganwadis.
