With the noble effort of improving women's health and cleanliness, the Indian Army conducted a Special Medical Camp for Women in the Kanto Sabal Relief Camp in Leimakhong, Imphal West, Manipur. The event focused on offering urgently needed healthcare amenities, imparting education on menstrual hygiene to the women, and distributing free sanitary pads to enable the local community of women.
The camp included free check-ups for health, distribution of medication, and anemia, blood pressure, diabetes, and other women-related medical checks. 200 women were seen at the camp, which had Indian Army medic personnel conducting consultations, counseling, and counseling of menstrual and mental health, diet, and sanitary hygiene.
The activity was a session of self-breast examination and cervical care awareness for the identification of early signs of breast and cervical cancer. The activity also focused on the proper use of sanitary materials and avoidance of cervical infection. The activity also attempted to de-stigmatize menstruation and held an open discussion regarding women's health.
Having been aware of the financial struggles women locals go through to be able to purchase sanitary products, the Indian Army felt it was their duty to provide free sanitary pads to over 200 women. This is one of their continuous efforts to provide menstrual and personal hygiene, as well as women's well-being, in society.
This special medical camp for women reflects the commitment of the Indian Army to empowering women in terms of health. Treating common ailments of health and offering hygienic products, the scheme builds a healthier, better-educated society that promotes women's health as well as hygiene.
