Google India has urged pregnant and lactating women to schedule their vaccination doses in an effort to vaccinate a large population with the threat of Covid third wave looming large.

Google stated in a tweet, “EVERYONE who is 18 years & above is eligible to get vaccinated. But wait, there’s some more info. Keep scrolling again.”

“Schedule your vaccine appointment even if you are on your period, or pregnant or a lactating mom (consult a doctor to make an informed decision about getting the vaccine shots)”

Vaccination for pregnant women is expected to begin soon after the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued extensive guidelines for vaccination of pregnant women after they are fully informed about the vaccine and given the option to take it.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, there is no scientific evidence that the Covid-19 vaccination causes infertility in men or women. According to the ministry, all vaccines and their constituents are tested first on animals and then in humans to assess any side effects.

A national vaccine administration expert group has also recommended Covid-19 vaccination for all lactating women.

COVID-19 infection during pregnancy may cause rapid deterioration of pregnant women's health and may also harm the foetus. According to experts, the benefits of vaccination for pregnant women outweigh the risks.

Based on the recommendations of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI), the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has approved the vaccination of pregnant women against COVID-19, with the condition that the pregnant women be informed about the risks of COVID-19 infection, as well as the risks and benefits associated with the COVID-19 vaccines available in the country.

A pregnant woman will be able to choose whether or not to receive the vaccination based on the information provided.
