Fortune Names 100 Most Powerful Women in Business 2024
By: WE Staff | Thursday, 3 October 2024
Fortune has recently published the top 100 powerful women in business for the year of 2024 list that includes a total of 100 top businesswomen from the diverse sectors like banking, technology, healthcare, telecommunications, retail, energy, amongst others.
Of these, 100 women are honoured by Fortune magazine with its 27th annual Most Powerful Women in Business. The list includes twelve East Asian leaders; eight leaders each from France and the UK; three each from Australia and Singapore; and two each from Spain, Brazil, and Germany. Besides these, female decision makers and new entrants for Fortune Global 500 companies are included in the list.
It lists 65 female CEOs done by editors from Fortune based on the size and success of their businesses, their career paths, their impact beyond the company, and how they use power. Some, for example, such as Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing's Bonnie Chan, and Mitsuko Tottori of Japan Airlines, entered into the position recently and are the first females to head their firms.
Another of the notable themes of this year's list is the growing AI industry and the rise of "super CFOs" like Colette Kress of Nvidia.
The newcomers in the artificial intelligence stream are AI pioneer Fei-Fei Li, president and co-founder of AI firm Anthropic, Daniella Amodei.
Since its launch, the list of the Most Powerful Women in business has kept reminding the world of the huge impact women leaders are having on shaping business today. They're not just responding to change, but driving meaningful transformation," Fortune editor in chief and chief content officer Alyson Shontell said.
We are honoured to recognize these women leaders, who are transforming industries and overall business through their bold actions and innovative minds," said Fortune CEO, Nyrkovskaya Anastasia.
