- FLO Bangalore launched the first women’s industrial park in Gowribidanur, Karnataka
- The initiative clearly states that women are ready to not only participate in the process of industry creation but also lead it
The launch of the FLO Bangalore Industrial Park in Gowribidanur, Karnataka marks an exciting new women-led effort in the region.
Women entrepreneurs, officials from government and private industry, and others came together for an event to celebrate that women are not only able but also willing to be leaders in the industrial sector.
The attendance of senior officials from FLO, the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), and Karnataka Udyog Mitra (KUM), highlighted the value of cooperation between public and private entities for the successful completion of this project.
The 50-acre industrial park, created specifically for FLO Bangalore members, will help eliminate many of the barriers that have traditionally kept women, especially first-time entrepreneurs, out of the manufacturing and large-scale business sectors.
Gowribidanur was chosen for its optimal mix of connectivity and infrastructure, ensuring long-term growth possibilities without the congestion and constraints of the Bengaluru industrial zones.
Through the development of a women’s industrial hub in this new zone, the project aims to provide jobs and boost regional ecosystems, proving that successful industrial development is possible beyond the boundaries of large cities.
The project is conceptualized not only as a land use development but also as a holistic ecosystem for women entrepreneurs.
With the help of KIADB and KUM, FLO Bangalore has established a mechanism that provides single-window clearance, consultancy, access to financial institutions, and assistance in business planning, compliance, and project implementation. The objective is to make processes less intimidating to first-generation entrepreneurs.
The proposed park, when functional, will provide common facilities such as skill development and capacity-building facilities, creche services, R&D facilities, and other infrastructure to meet the practical requirements of women entrepreneurs who have to manage both business and family.
