The FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup will be held in October this year, and Bhubaneswar, Goa, and Navi Mumbai have been nominated as the host cities. The FIFA World Cup draw will be held on June 24 in Zurich, according to FIFA. Following the cancellation of the event in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, FIFA, the All India Football Federation (AIFF), and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) announced the host cities after a thorough review and consultation process.
"In order to ensure the safety of the players involved and the other participants in the tournament, Bhubaneswar's Kalinga Stadium, Goa's Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and Navi Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium have been announced as the three venues that will welcome some of the brightest emerging talents and future stars of women's football," the LOC said in a media release."Following the recent FIFA visit to India, this is an important step forward and marks the start of the final countdown to the tournament," Sarai Bareman, FIFA Chief Women's Football Officer, said.
"Following FIFA's recent successful visit to India, and in light of the evolving COVID-19 situation, the new footprint for the tournament was decided upon," said Praful Patel, the LOC chairman, AIFF President, and FIFA Council member.
"While Goa and Navi Mumbai have demonstrated substantial expertise in staging international competitions, Bhubaneswar, an up-and-coming sporting powerhouse, perfectly resonates with the values of this youth tournament's growth and development."
Apart from the hosts, six countries have confirmed their participation so far: Brazil, Chile, China PR, Colombia, Japan, and New Zealand. The draw will take place on June 24.
There are still spots available in the competition, which will include 16 teams. The event will take place from October 11 through October 30.
