The Sree Kanteerva and Koramangala indoor stadiums in Bengaluru will serve as the location for the FIBA U18 Women's Asian Championship from September 5 to 11.
The event will include participants from as many as 16 different nations. Dr. Narayana Gowda, the minister of youth empowerment and sports, stated in a statement to the media that the Basketball Federation of India was receiving full support and that preparations were on track.
Speaking about Khelo India's success in the area, he anticipated a similar outcome for this occasion. The minister stated that all support is being given in ensuring that Bengaluru is made the basketball hub, and the government hopes to accomplish this in the following five years, in line with Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai's declaration.
Additionally, he said that occasions like Khelo India and the FIBA championship will significantly aid in reaching the goal. Two divisions—A and B—will compete in the competition.
India, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Chinese Taipei, Australia, and New Zealand are among the nations taking part in Division A. Division B includes Hong Kong, Jordan, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, the Philippines, Samoa, and Thailand. Sree Kanteerva Indoor Stadium will host Division A matches, while Koramangala Indoor Stadium will host Division B matches. The top four teams from the championship will advance to the 2023 FIBA U19 Women's World Cup, which will take place in Madrid.
