Department of Women & Child Development Haryana Invites Applications for State Level Women Awards

Department of Women and Child Development, Haryana is inviting applications from women with admirable achievements in various fields to honour them with State Level Women Awards. The interested women applicants can submit their applications till October 18, 2021, in the office of the Department of Women and Child Development.
Under Haryana State Level Women Award an amount of Rs. 1 Lakh for Kalpana Chawla Shaurya and Behen Shanno Devi Panchayati Raj Award, Rs. 1.50 Lakh will be given for Indira Gandhi Mahila Shakti Puraskar and Rs. 51,000 for Lifetime Achievers Award with citations. The Nurses/ ANM/ Women MPWs, women players, literate women group members, social workers, government employees and women entrepreneurs would be awarded Rs.21,000.
With its current minister as Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani, the Directorate of Women and Child Development is functioning since 10th February, 1992 after partitioning from the social welfare department. It is a nodal agency working for the advancement of women and child development. The Department works in close co-operation with social organizations and international agencies like UNFPA, UNICEF, World Bank and a lot more.
The Department is involving various schemes for the overall development of women and children under state, central and with the assistance of international agencies. It also works administratively for Haryana State Commission for Women, Haryana State Social Welfare Advisory Board and Haryana Women Development Corporation
Recently, Smriti Irani inaugurated a two-day national conference with States and Union Territories at Kevadiya, Gujarat. The conference discussed issues like Mission Poshan 2.0, Mission Vatsalya and Mission Shakti.
The department’s vision is to facilitate women to become socially and economically strong so that they can contribute equally in an environment free from violence and discrimination. It aims to provide opportunities to children and adolescent girls for their growth and development.
The department also works to provide support services and create awareness to affronted women about the protection of women from Domestic Violence Act 2005, Dowry Act 1961 and The Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006.
