Driven by the inspiration of the concept 'Ram Rajya,' the Delhi Government has presented a Rs. 76,000 crore budget for the fiscal year 2024-25. The government has taken great steps towards empowering women with the newly launched budget where Delhi-based women who earn less than the income tax threshold would get Rs. 1,000 per month. The initiative aims to help women in different sectors of their lives specifically transportation, health, and education.
The Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana presented by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and State Finance Minister, Atishi aims to improve women's economic independence and well-being by assisting almost five million women by providing them financial support.
Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal led commitment towards women's security and welfare, this budget allows to meet the urgent needs of women along with placing the government in a strong position ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha and early 2025 assembly elections. Despite challenges, the administration consistently increases allocations, demonstrating dedication to the general welfare and the 'Ram Rajya' concept.
The government has increased its budget from Rs 30,940 crore in 2014-15 to Rs 76,000 crore for 2024-25, 1.47 per cent higher than revised estimates, however lower than the initial budget of Rs. 78,800 crores.
