Following their heroics in helping India win the Women's Asia Cup, middle-order batter Jemimah Rodrigues and off-spin all-rounder Deepti Sharma were named on the shortlist for the ICC Women's Player of the Month award. Along with the two, Pakistan's Nida Dar has also been named as a nominee for the award.
Jemimah was already nominated back in August as a result of her outstanding performances in the Commonwealth Games, and this time around she was a key factor in India's run to victory in the Women's Asia Cup.
Jemimah was the tournament's top run-scorer when her team defeated Sri Lanka in the championship game, with 217 runs from her eight games at an average of 54.25.
One of her best performances was the 76 she scored in the first game against the eventual champions, which set the tone for India's prize-winning campaign for the seventh time in the tournament's history.
During the Women's Asia Cup, Deepti, another of India's talismanic performers, had a productive month and left Bangladesh with the championship trophy and the Player of the Tournament honor.
She consistently provided a threat with the ball, as evidenced by her 13 wickets at a phenomenal average of 7.69, which included notable totals of three for against Pakistan and three for against Thailand in the semifinal.
Meanwhile, Nida has been a key player for Pakistan for a long time. At the Women's Asia Cup in Bangladesh last month, she displayed the entire breadth of her batting and bowling skills. In her seven T20Is, she concluded the month with 145 runs at an average of 72.50 and eight wickets.
Despite not making it to the championship game, Nida was an inspiration, especially during her team's historic triumph over India at Sylhet, where she took two wickets for 23 runs and scored an unbeaten 56 to earn Player of the Match honours.
