In the course of debate on the social welfare department's demand for grants, the minister set plans for training social welfare officers in illustrious skill development centers. Training in crime prevention and immediate response measures will be offered. Furthermore, regional training will be offered to field workers.
Minister Geetha also stated that books and short films on women's safety legislations and schemes will be made at a cost of 1 crore. These resources will sensitize school and college students as well as workplaces.
To counter objections expressed by AIADMK MLA K. Maragatham over increased crimes against women, the minister put the spotlight on existing efforts that help secure the safety of women and children, including Kaaval Uthavi (mobile app), Students in Responsible Police Initiatives (Sirpi), Aval project, Police Akka, and Pallikoodam.
