In order to promote sustainable development and economic empowerment for women, the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Cooperation (CEDC) under the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) has launched the Committee of Women Entrepreneurs (CoWE). This marked the start of the International Year of Cooperatives (IYC) 2025 by hosting the inaugural meeting.

The event held at the NCUI's Board Room was attended by 20 successful Incubation Centre women graduates who are successful entrepreneurs. It aimed to empower women entrepreneurs in Delhi and other states incubating innovative ideas and spearheading initiatives like product development, branding, and promotional activities. The CoWE is expected to enhance the visibility and marketability of products created by Small and Medium Enterprises (SHGs), strengthening the cooperative ecosystem.

Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, NCUI Chief Executive, praised CoWE's establishment as a platform for supporting Self-Help Groups in India, encouraging members to collectively empower women. In addition to this, NCUI's Advisor Sumit Singh discussed the Incubation Centre project, which has mobilized over 5,000 women and trained 1,500 for self-reliance, emphasizing its role in addressing SHG challenges and product promotion.

Women entrepreneurs who attended the meeting shared their success stories on how the Incubation Centre showcased its impact on their personal and professional lives. CEDC established CoWE to address challenges faced by Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SHGs). The committee aims to enhance product visibility and marketability, strengthening the cooperative ecosystem and amplifying women entrepreneurs' voices.
