Amazon India Establishes WINS in Haryana for Women's Inclusivity
By: WE Staff | Thursday, 29 February 2024
In order to provide inclusivity and diversity at workplaces with the utmost safety and security for female employees, Amazon India introduced WINS. The Women in Night Shifts initiative driven by Amazon India is a commendable step towards women's upliftment in India. This program will guarantee equal chances for men and women in a variety of roles by providing a secure and encouraging work environment for women. The laudable move will now start in the Sort Centers of Haryana where women employees will be able to work in the night shifts without hesitation and in a comfortable environment.
Women at workplaces have been historically restricted from working night shifts specifically in warehousing operations due to safety concerns, in order to eradicate those traditional laws and promote inclusivity, Amazon India will be establishing safety, security, and well-being as the top-most priority.
Haryana is a new destination to establish such a center, Amazon India has previously started this mission by proposing centers in a number of other regions in India including, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Punjab, Gujarat, Telangana, and Karnataka. The firm has effectively made it possible for women to work night shifts in these locations due to diligent work and cooperation with concerned authorities.
Apart from establishing WINS, Amazon India has already established a number of safety measures designed especially for the improvement of its employees. Escorted pick-up and drop services, training on gender sensitization, placing female employees in supervisory positions, and meetings with safety experts to discuss issues related to working night shifts, etc. are all the significant steps, the firm has taken for employee benefits.
In addition to this, to commemorate the 49th International Women's Day, Amazon India has launched the 3rd edition of the #SheIsAmazon campaign. The campaign will showcase 49 projects and their profits to empower women in society. The theme of this year's Women's Day is #InspireInclusion.
