Women Form the Strong & Deeprunning Foundation of the Indian Healthcare Sector

Healthcare is one of the most important sectors for any community and is a critical marker for development of a nation. The global pandemic opened our eyes to the criticality of having a robust healthcare sector. Covid-19 era taught us that if the healthcare system is not strong enough, it can cause widespread devastation which could also leas to economic instability.
India took a leaf from the pandemic book and strengthened its healthcare system. Although a lot remains to be done, yet we are on the path to building robust, high-quality, affordable and accessible healthcare services for every corner of the nation.
Women have always played a crucial role in the healthcare sector. Be it playing the role of primary care-givers to the elderly & infants or taking charge of medical institutions, woman have been doing it all. A majority of India’s nursing population which is said to be the backbone of the healthcare setup are also women. Indian women are also the leading demographic when it comes to pursuing medical degrees. Women’s importance in the healthcare sector can hardly be overstated.
As the World Health Day approaches, Women Entrepreneur India magazine thought it was the opportune time to recognize some of the top women leaders in the field of healthcare. The current edition of WE magazine brings to you several inspirational stories of women who are leading premier healthcare institutions.
On the cover we have Madhuri Akella, Director, Second Innings House. Madhuri completed her PG Diploma in Business Administration and Human Resources from Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies and is currently pursuing an Advanced Management Program from ISB. Having started her career in Market Research and Advertising, Madhuri has been part of various renowned companies like ICICI Bank and Ing Vysya Life Insurance. Further, Madhuri took up the role of an entrepreneur with the establishment of ventures such as Smartkidz Educare India, Infinity Consortium, and currently Second Innings House.
Dr. Kaberi Banerjee, Medical Director, Advance Fertility and Gynaecology Centre is another reputed leader from the issue. She is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who is also a leading Infertility specialist in India. She specializes in infertility, failed infertility cycles, ICSI, egg donation, donor IVF specialist, and surrogacy. Dr. Kaberi has treated over 10,000 pregnancy cases.
Joining them is Anjali Mittal. An entrepreneur & efficient healthcare entrepreneur striving to strengthen the Indian healthcare space by offering end-to-end healthcare solutions including Pathology, Home Healthcare, Radiology, and Pharmacy right at the doorstep of patients.
The edition also features Mansi Mehta, Founder & CEO, Cancermitr. Driven by purpose and inspired by loss, Mansi Mehta embarked on the social development sector a few years ago. She has good working experience of more than 15 years in leadership advisory and executive positions. She loves challenges, facilitates value, cherishes relationships, and builds propositions.
Last but certainly not the least, we have Bharathi Reddy, CEO, Vijaya Hospital. She is a visionary leader and philanthropist, and with her leadership skills, she initiated a revolution in society by offering affordable yet excellent medical services through Vijaya Hospital.
