Lady Shri Ram College for Women Imparting Quality Education to Indian Women

The importance of women’s education can hardly be overstated. Every social reformer in the world has highlighted the criticality of educating women to ensure their empowerment. Its notable to mention that educating women has positive impact on her family and community’s wellbeing.
With the aim to educate Indian women, late Sir Shri Ram established the Lady Shri Ram College in 1956. Founded in the memory of his wife, the educational institution aimed to provide quality education to the women of India.
From modest beginnings in Daryaganj, Lady Shri Ram College for women has today come to be recognized as a seat of higher learning for women in India. A centre for academic excellence and achievement, it is today one of the finest institutions for Social Sciences, Humanities and Commerce, while also offering a B.Sc. Programme in Statistics. Professional courses like Elementary Education and Journalism are among its strengths.
The institution has honed some of the sharpest minds of India and the world including Menaka Gandhi, Nidhi Razdan, Yogita Bali, Dr Meenakshi Gopinath and Aung Saan Sii Kyi among various others.
This meritorious list extends much further and includes a host of other names. The current edition of Women Entrepreneurs Review magazine introduces you to a few more women leaders who are alumni of Lady Shri Ram College for Women.
One notable feature on this list is international style icon and renowned jewelry designer Queenie Singh. She is a paragon of entrepreneurial success and innovative vision in the beauty industry. Queenie began her entrepreneurial journey with the launch of jewelry brand, Jewels By Queenie, in 2003. Recently, Queenie has ventured into the beauty industry with Beauty By Bie. Teaming up with Dr. Dinyar, she launched this clean beauty brand.
We also introduce readers to Preeti Singh, Director at Citrus Advisors. She has ventured into traditionally male-dominated sectors, such as steel, glass and telecom. She serves as an inspiration, advocating not just for gender parity but for the recognition and celebration of merit and capability in all spheres of business and society.
Priyanka Nijhawan, Director, Nijhawan Group is another noteworthy woman leader. Priyanka graduated from Lady Shri Ram College (LSR) with a degree in Mathematics Honors and earned a master's in computer science from King's College, London. As the former Chairperson of CII-Indian Women Network-Delhi Chapter, she advocates for policy changes for women.
