The people management function is ever evolving. In 2025 we saw it undergo a deeply transformative phase. From navigating hybrid workforces to leveraged AI-driven insights, HR leaders had their hands full. There was also a focus on human-centered leadership to drive engagement, culture, and performance across industries. We saw market expansion, digital adoption, and predictive people analytics become central to workforce planning, while values-driven cultures and diversity initiatives strengthened organizational resilience.

Women HR leaders, in particular, played a key role in shaping strategic talent agendas. By amalgamating empathy with data, they redefined the core foundation of the HR function. Looking ahead, 2026 promises to be a year to be ruled by tech and automation. AI will power decisions but human judgment, emotional intelligence, and continuous learning will continue to define sustainable workforce success.

To know more about the HR function and its nitty-gritties, we indulged in extensive conversations with insightful women HR leaders. The current HR special edition of the WER magazine brings with it industry insights, HR trends and lessons from HR leaders’ successful careers.

In this edition we introduce readers to Mahalakshmi M, Founder & Director of Maatrom HR Solutions. She is an experienced HR professional with 28 years of cross-country experience across India and the US. Initially, she was a Civil Engineer in Chennai and later she made a shift to Human Resources, as she was inclined to work with people and also, she liked to make an impact at the workplace.

Another impactful leader featured in this special magazine edition is Tanya Sood, Head HR Operations, Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters. She exemplifies dedication and professionalism with deep skills in performance systems, talent management, and employee engagement. She is known for her ability to strengthen team associations, streamlining processes, and build high-performing teams. As Head of HR operations at Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters, she continues to drive initiatives that enhance capability, culture, and long-term organizational success.

Talking about HR’s future, Tanya says, “In today’s rapidly shifting landscape, technology is reshaping operations, faster than ever. From an HR lens, this shift is less about replacement and more about refinement, simplifying workflows, removing bottlenecks, and enabling automation that strengthens how teams’ function.”
