Industry Support and Networks Driving Women’s Entrepreneurship in India

Government support forms only one part of the ecosystem. Private-sector initiatives, accelerators, investors and industry associations are increasingly contributing to the growth of women-led businesses.

Women-focused venture funds and angel networks are helping address early-stage capital requirements, particularly at the seed and Series A stages. Corporate-backed accelerators and mentorship programmes are also creating opportunities for women founders in sectors such as fintech, D2C and healthtech.

Industry organisations such as FICCI FLO provide women entrepreneurs and business leaders with networking, mentorship and market-access opportunities. These platforms can be particularly valuable for founders who may otherwise lack access to established business networks.

State-level policies are also becoming important drivers of women-led enterprise growth. Targeted initiatives in sectors such as food processing and MSMEs can help women-owned manufacturing businesses access capital subsidies and expand their operations. Odisha’s experience, highlighted by the sharp rise in women entrepreneur registrations, demonstrates how state-level interventions can contribute to measurable growth.
