Women’s many qualities contribute to Business Success
As a Sales Director at Transteel, I’ve learned that leadership is not just about driving numbers, it’s about understanding people. Building strong client relationships requires more than just offering a great product; it’s about listening, understanding their needs, and providing real solutions. I’ve seen firsthand how empathy and emotional intelligence help in building trust, resolving concerns, and turning one-time buyers into long-term partners. Within my team, I focus on motivation and support because I know that a driven and engaged team delivers the best results. Sales comes with its share of challenges; delays, negotiations, and conflicts, but I’ve found that clear communication and a collaborative approach always lead to the best outcomes. I also believe adaptability is key, especially in a dynamic industry like ours. Whether it’s embracing new trends like sustainable furniture or aligning with evolving customer expectations, staying ahead requires constant learning. These qualities have shaped my journey at
Leaning Into Empathy & Clear Communication
One of the most challenging situations I faced as a Sales Director at Transteel involved a high-stakes order from a major corporate client. We had committed to delivering a large batch of office furniture within a strict deadline, but an unexpected supply chain disruption threatened to delay the shipment. The client was already frustrated due to past delays from other vendors, and any misstep on our end could have jeopardized the deal and damaged our reputation.
Instead of taking a defensive approach, I leaned into empathy and clear communication; qualities I believe define my leadership style. I personally reached out to the client, acknowledged their concerns, and assured them that I was actively working on a solution. Internally, I collaborated closely with our production and logistics teams, pushing for alternate sourcing options and reworking schedules to prioritize their order. I also leveraged my network to find a faster transport alternative, ensuring minimal delays.
Advice For Aspiring Women Leaders
On International Women’s Day, my advice to aspiring women leaders is: own your space, trust your abilities, and lead with confidence.
Leadership isn’t about fitting in, it’s about using your unique strengths. Empathy, communication, and resilience are powerful assets in driving success. Speak up, take risks, and challenge the status quo. Self-doubt is common, but you are just as capable as anyone else.
Surround yourself with mentors, keep learning, and support other women. True leadership is about creating impact, inspiring others, and leading with authenticity. The world needs more women in leadership; step up and make your mark.
