3. Thamarai
A story of passion meeting destiny, one could say, Thamarai came into the space of Tamil cinemas as one of its most celebrated lyricists, after being a production engineer and freelance journalist. Debuting with Iniyavale (1998), Thamarai cemented her place with the soul-stirring Vaseegara from Minnale and thus began her highly successful association with Gautham Vasudev Menon and Harris Jayaraj.
Known as one of the most respected women lyricists in Indian films, and also, appealed as the most poetic and emotional of lyricists, she has won many awards for her compositions and has made a mark in Tamil film music, breaking several barriers that mostly held women lyricists.
