Smita Crishna-Godrej is a member of the Godrej family, which owns the Godrej Group, a conglomerate with interests in consumer goods, real estate, and agriculture. With a net worth of $3.3 billion, she is among the wealthiest women in India due to her one-fifth ownership part in the family's holdings. The consumer products company Godrej & Boyce is managed by her brother Jamshyd. Her daughter Nyrika Holkar also works in the firm whereas her spouse Vijay Crishna is a well-known theatre artist. Smita Crishna-Godrej is one of the world's wealthiest individuals as Forbes has listed her on their list of billionaires. Her name is often listed among the most influential and economically powerful people worldwide due to her numerous business endeavors and major contributions to several industries. She was the first woman to hold the position of Bombay Stock Exchange president, inducted into the Forbes India Hall of Fame, and named one of the world's most powerful women in 2019.
