6. Bhavna Menon
Bhavna Menon is a conservationist, storyteller, and writer who documents the intriguing relationships between people and wildlife through photography and writing. She acts on behalf of local communities who live around wild landscapes and suffer losses such as crop destruction, dead livestock, or threats to personal life, yet still cherish wildlife due to their very deep-rooted culture. The wildlife would only survive very minimally in a few protected patches without them. For over 14 years, Bhavna has been sharing their stories and working with various organizations such as Earth Focus Foundation, forest departments, and PashooPakhee to impart skills, raise awareness about conservation, and find alternative ways of livelihood for the local communities.
