Women Leaders of the Year - 2020

What gets stuck never passes - such was the condition of the Indian corporate, education, sports, culinary, and manufacturing sector, until women stepped in. Historically, India has been a male dominated country in the corporate sector. However, in recent years, women played a crucial role in economic growth. Apart from domestic masterpiece works in cooking and streamlining family welfares, women started contributing to the corporate sector, manufacturing, Indian Army, education, ministry, and various other sectors. The Indian government’s measures for women empowerment have also been proactively supporting the cause. The skilling development programmes with high productivity have increased the opportunities for employment and raise in income level.

This year, on 17 February 2020, the Honorable Supreme Court of India declared that women officers in the Indian Army are eligible to get command positions at par with the male counterparts, thereby eradicating any discrimination or stereotypical mindset. Equivalent to this empowering step, one of India’s IT giants announced a target of 25 percent women in senior leadership roles by 2020. Simultaneously, India’s women entrepreneurship has the ability to generate transformational employment with 150-170 million jobs by 2030. Presently, India has around 20 percent of enterprises representing 13.5 to 15.7 million women ownership (Source: Bain & Company and Google).
