What Incited You To Be A Content Creator And What Made You Choose Food As The Niche To Venture?

I was a software engineer by profession. Due to the nature of my spouse’s job, as a Senior Manager in a Multinational Company, we were relocating overseas every two-three years. This did pose challenges to my traditional job in the industry. I recall, that I would very often get disheartened and feel a bit depressed that I was not able to meaningfully contribute to something that engaged me mentally and creatively.

After some bouts of creative attempts at oil painting, iPhone game development, and freelancing, I still could not find a solid footing in something. I came to this very important realization during my experiments, that we are witnessing a new era of entrepreneurship, where technology and content creation are two great avenues of growth. Both of these have great leverage and are also very enjoyable and fulfilling in nature. Most successful people in these fields are self-made in the real sense.

Being a bit creative and enjoying the whole process of creating a lot, I decided to plunge myself into a beautiful world of content creation. The next big question was what kind of content. A long time back Confucius said - “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” Keeping this in mind, I made a list of activities that I enjoy that can also transform into the content.

I found that I have a good hand at cooking and thoroughly enjoy the process of discovering various tastes and recipes. I decided to create videos of 20 recipes and see if I enjoy. Most importantly, if it is well received by the online audience. However, this was very welcoming and also bestowed a sense of satisfaction. That’s how Yum Curry came into the picture.

Family Plays An Important Role In Every Person’s Life. How Has Your Family Supported You In Your Career Journey So Far?

Family plays a very important role in anyone’s career, be it a woman or a man. My parents have always been very supportive throughout my childhood and my husband is my best friend who supports me even in very minor things. I started my channel in Dubai and he helped me in every possible way he could. When we decided to come back to India, I was worried about the loss I will have to face during moving and setting up the studio but when we moved the first thing he did was setting up my studio. He becomes my cameraman when I need him or a cheerleader when I feel depressed. We together celebrate every achievement and every new subscriber of Yum Curry.

What Is The Roadmap Ahead? How Is Yum Curry Gearing Up For The Same?

We continue growing the Yum Curry family with newer and more engaging content. I have also started a new channel ‘Globalicious’ on social media. YumCurry is mainly focused on Indian fusion cuisine, Globalicious is focused on international cuisines. We are in the business of delighting our audience with new experiences around food and the process of creating food and we will continue exploring new methods of doing so.
