Women Industry Leaders - 2026
"In the future, there will be no female leaders. There will just be leaders." — Sheryl Sandberg Women aren't just breaking into leadership anymore. They're reshaping what it looks like.
From boardrooms in finance to research labs pushing the edge of biotech, women are now running some of the world's most influential companies, and the results speak for themselves. The progress is real, even if it's slow. In 2026, a record 56 women lead Fortune 500 companies, making up 11.2% of the list, the highest in its 72-year history.
Zoom out to the global stage, though, and the picture gets tougher: only 34 women run Fortune Global 500 companies this year. That's an all-time high too, but it's still just 6.8%. What's most striking isn't the numbers alone. It's where these women are leading.
Tech, finance, pharma, consumer goods, even industries like aerospace and heavy manufacturing that have historically shut women out. It's a sign that leadership is no longer about fitting an old mold. It's about vision, staying power, and the ability to actually build something that lasts.
