Top 10 Corporate Women Leaders From Hyderabad - 2022

Economy of Hyderabad, the capital city of Telangana, was highly based on traditional manufacturing, the knowledge sector and tourism. The city is known as `Pearl City' and is famous for its twinkling pearls and glass embedded bangles. The economy of the city started to diversify during 1990s. Gradually the city started to witness a change in its economic pattern from traditional manufacturing to cosmopolitan industrial service sector. Its strategic location in South-central India became a key factor for industrial growth in the city. The growth of IT enterprises, biotech, insurance, and financial institutions, and a strong employment base in ancillary activities such as trade and commerce, transport, storage, communication, real-estate and retail, changed the face of the city, giving birth to today's Hyderabad.

Telangana is poised to be a $470 billion economy, roughly over Rs. 34 lakh crore by 2030, with its consistent and impressive growth of over 13 percent every year. As of 2020, Hyderabad has six lakh employees in the IT/ITES sector, working in more than 1500 companies. According to Family National Health Survey, Telangana has the highest population of working women in India. About 39 percent of working age women in Telangana are employed. A large majority of employed women about 93 percent work in non-agriculture sector, when compared to 64 percent men. Also the survey found that the employment is high among women aged between 15 and 49 years. This large number of women workforce is spread across various fields such as IT and ITeS sector and other corporate offices and industries.
